Togo Jinja
Shrine in Shyuba area
This is the entrance to the Togu Shrine in Shybua. As far as I could find, this Togo is not the Admral Togo from World War II He was for many years the teacher of the Meji Emperor and was responsible for winning a Naval War off China against the Russian Fleet. This was the first victory for the Japanese against the Western Powers and predates the start of World War II.
This Temple Dog was the only one done in this style that I saw in Tokyo. Note all the sharp angles and very modern appearence. I think this shrine was rebuilt in 1969.
I'm not sure what the significance of this monument is. There is a single submarine in the tablet above and the stone cylinder in front of it is a torpedo.
